How many treatments are needed?
The number of sessions varies from person to person depending on skin type, hair color, hair thickness, hormonal imbalances and the treated area of the body. The exact number cannot be accurately predicted for any patient. However, most people require around 8 to 12 treatments, once every 6 weeks for the body and every 4 weeks for the face.
It’s virtually painless. The sensation is often described as a mild burning sensation, but sensitivity levels vary between people and skin areas.
What happens after treatment
Redness, goosebumps and sensitivity in the treated area is completely normal and generally settles within 24 hours. A few days after treatment, the hair will start to grow back.
You can shave after 4 days. Within the next 2 to 3 weeks, the hair damaged by the laser will fall out. During a course of treatment, hair growth will slow down, become thinner and more patchy.
It’s important to protect your skin from the sun.
Are the results permanent?
Yes, you can. Around 60-95% of targeted hair is permanently removed after the recommended course of treatment, and the hair that remains is much finer and lighter in color.
Who is not a good candidate?
- Patients taking Accutane or who have taken Accutane within the last 6-12 months.
- Patients who are on regular daily antibiotics.
- Anyone who is pregnant or planning to become pregnant.
- Anyone who is very sunburned or sunburned.
- Patients with cold sores in the treatment area should start taking antiviral medication one day before treatment and for 3 days after.
Does the diode laser also work on dark skin tones?
Yes, diode laser hair removal is also effective on dark skin tones. The 808nm frequency is absorbed by pigments such as hemoglobin, melanin and keratin. Skin color does not affect this aspect of treatment.
