High Intensity Focused Ultrasound

HIFU stands for High Intensity Focused Ultrasound. It is a non-invasive treatment that uses focused ultrasound energy to tighten and improve the skin. All without injections or surgery!

During treatment, a device containing high-intensity ultrasound energy is placed on the area to be treated. This energy is directed to specific deep layers of the skin. The treatment heats these deeper layers to high temperatures, leading to stimulation of collagen production and increased production of the substance elastin. As a result, the skin improves and becomes significantly tighter.

HIFU treatment can be performed on different parts of the face and body. The most common areas to address are as follows:

Is a HIFU treatment painful?

Despite the fact that HIFU treatment is not painful and no scars are involved, the results are almost as good as after surgery! However, stay realistic and don’t expect the exact same result as a facelift.

Who is a good candidate for HIFU treatment?

It’s also important to remember that HIFU treatments can have limited results and are not a replacement for surgical treatments.

How long does it take to see results and how long do they last?

After your HIFU treatment, you may see some initial effect, but the ultimate results will take place over 2-3 months as your body naturally regenerates collagen.

As the procedure stimulates your own collagen production, it really depends on you how long the results last. The treatment produces new collagen on the inside, but your natural aging process will dictate how long it translates into visible results on the outside. However, most clients can enjoy the results of a HIFU treatment for up to 2 years. We would advise having a top-up roughly every year for optimal continued results. With continued HIFU treatment, you can defy the aging process gracefully with tight, youthful glowing skin.

Are there any side effects?

The skin may appear red at first, this can be during treatment but sometimes lasts longer, however, the redness should disappear within a few hours. Some clients experience slight swelling, tingling or tenderness to the touch, but these are temporary in nature. Other, less common post-procedure effects may include temporary bruising or numbness in small areas of the skin. As with any cosmetic procedure, there is the possibility of other rare side effects that your doctor will go over with you.
